Methodology
Encore's Quality Assurance & Test Environment (EQuATE)
EQuATE is a comprehensive methodology that facilitates incorporating quality assurance
disciplines into the software development life cycle. EQuATE embodies the industry-accepted
V-Model testing process. EQuATE defines testing techniques covering unit, system, integration,
user acceptance, and deployment readiness testing. Additionally, a number of specialty testing
areas, like regression and performance testing, are addressed. EQuATE also incorporates
best practices and techniques related to release management and production support.
The implementation of the EQuATE methodology enables the enterprise to accomplish efficient software
deployment and to enforce an effective QA process.
EQuATE offers templates and processes as a way to deliver the
following disciplines:
- Release Management: Defines, constructs, and validates features, functions, and
processes to meet a software deployment schedule.
- Change Management: Ensures that changes are approved, communicated, and conformed
to defined standards.
- Quality Management and Control: Validates changes to the production state.
Quality Management focuses on strategy, metrics, and preventative activities.
Quality Control focuses on identifying, quantifying and mitigating risks of defects
in the changes.
- Tools Management: Defines, implements and trains personnel in the testing tools
chosen by the client. In particular, Encore QA and testing consultants are skilled in
the Mercury Interactive tool suite including: WinRunner®, LoadRunner® and TestDirectorT.
Encore's EQuATE methodology is a high-quality
standard and a repeatable quality assurance process tightly integrated into the overall
software development process. EQuATE specifically addresses issues important to test managers,
test specialists and software quality assurance personnel.
